As reported by Shams Charania of the Athletic Grant Williams is set to leave the Boston celtics and join the Dallas Mavericks in a three-team trade that includes the San Antonio Spurs.

according to Shams Charania the Athletic after spending four seasons with the Boston Celtics, Grant Williams is now reportedly moving to the west. As arestricted free agent Williams is set to join Mavericks in a three team sign and trade deal that includes the Boston Celtics,Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs.

according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN Grant Williams who is a restricted free agent has agreed to a four-year contract worth $53 million in the sign and trade deal. As part of the trade the San Antonio Spurs will receive Reggie Bullock and unprotected pick swap with the Dallas Mavericks for the 2030 draft. On the other hand the Boston Celtics will be receiving multiple second-round picks.

After the deal involving Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith to acquire Irving the Mavericks had openings for depth, playmaking, and defense. Following the trade Williams moved out of the playoff position and faced uncertainty. Williams brings a versatile skill set, defensive prowess, and the ability to shoot from deep, which he has showcased with the Celtics.

The Boston Celtics are undergoing a roster shift after a disappointing exit from the Eastern Conference Finals, where they were eliminated by the 8th seed Miami Heat.
